Me in 3rd Person

I was a baby, then I was a sellout.

Chris was conceived beneath the autumnal equinox of 1979 somewhere on the East End. From wee brown zygote, he later emerged larger than life just north of the Pierce elevated. It’s been since then that his love of Houston’s streets has kept him not-so-firmly planted in his town of H (with a stint in Mexico City).

After playing the role of starving writer/artist through his college days, he grew in his fondness of finer foods and thrust himself upon the Crescent board-lined halls of paid creativity known as advertising. His indie friends all but rejected him and he began wearing khakis and combing his hair. Playing media man by day and jaded wannabe hipster by night, this and a recent departure from “corporate America” is his attempt at finding a balance.

Selling out pays.

On a slightly more serious note, Chris counts among his achievements 3 Gold, 1 Silver, 2 Bronze ADDYs for his work as a copywriter and art director. In his previous lives, Chris has worked with clients such as Bacardi USA, American Heart Association, Dell, Texas Instruments and ConAgra Foods.

Me in 1st person…

I like helping people succeed. Sometimes that means helping them make meaningful connections or sometimes it’s just listening. Whatever the process, I enjoy helping out.

I enjoy great design and great efficiency. Sometimes those go hand in hand, sometimes they don’t. I’m ok with that. I hope you are too.

Sometimes people will call me an idea guy. But that sounds like I don’t work very hard. I like to think I work pretty hard.

I was born an entrepreneur, and I’m still entrepreneuring. Show me something new. Teach me something new. I like people who challenge the norm and don’t get off at the first idea stop.

I’m an avid traveler, Latin America and Southeast Asia most recently, and I sit on the board of the Hispanic Family Initiative.

If you’d like to meet some people like (and not like) me, you should check out my friends down on the sidebar there. I’m honored to call them friends and colleagues.

If you’d like to hire me or my company to consult, construct or just help you brainstorm, you can contact me here or us here.
